Blog Project : Our First Encounter

Our first project in Communication class, is to create a Blogger account. The purpose is rather simple; learn how to write. Now what is up with that?

Our goal with this project is focused on the content. How to create content and how to write it in the best way possible. By doing so, we can accurately convey the message to our target audience.

When visiting a website, you will stumble upon the aesthetics, some content and the means to navigate around the site. Everything is part of a website’s design and in most cases, everything has been carefully planned out. Although this project touches only a small aspect when talking about content, however it is also very important to catch the user's attention as well. This plays a big role when dealing with websites.

Here are some examples:
  • Eye-catching titles
  • Bite-size sentences
  • Intriguing images
  • Clever layout

These are only a few examples that come into play when dealing with a website's content. Obviously there are more examples such as colors, fonts, and font sizes that are worth mentioning. However, this blog project is about communication; write content and convey the message clearly. The other design features will gradually appear as i continue practicing on Blogger, while learning more throughout my semesters.

Ultimately, it all comes down to knowing your target audience (or target group). If you know your target audience very well, you can can design content specifically to their needs. This means more satisfied users and that is the result a website strives for. A dysfunctional website is not useful to its users, and will result in the users searching for another website, to acquire their information.

Think about it. Have you never encountered a website that strikes you in a negative way or a positive way?

  1. Chris, I agree on everything! I hope you will actually make this blog grow in time, I think it will be of longterm value to you.

But what's with the monster - is it the new knowledge that you poke, or is it "just" an example of your work? :)

    1. Thank you very much - feedback is always appreciated :D I do see some potential with this blog, so i have taken it upon myself to learn some PHP in my spare time, so i can actually make a blog for my own website.

The monster (a bear with horns) represents my future in the field of Multimedia Design, both as a student and employee (future goal). Nobody knows for sure what the future might bring; will the monster attack or become a loyal friend, so to speak.
